Channel Two Leaves, known in the west as Futaba or just 2chan, is Japan's most popular Imageboard.

Origin[edit]

Futaba was created on August 30, 2001, as a bunker when 2ch almost died due to poor optimization. On March 12, 2002, they created a GazouBBS imageboard. From there on, the community took a life of it's own, becoming one of the most influential websites of 2000s Japan.

Futaba Channel was extremely popular on Something Awful's ADTRW board and the Raspberry Heaven community, as the fast anonymous image posting system was important in an era before image hosting. The site inspired moot to create 4chan, and it's code was forked to create Futallaby, the basis of modern 4chan's codebase.

Raids[edit]

It is a known fact that toshiaki hates everything and would rather spam their own site to oblivion than put one toe outside 2chan.

In 2003, during a DDoS attack by an alleged Korean community, Futaba blocks all non Japanese IP addresses.
