Sage

From Bibliotheca Anonoma

Definition[edit]

Sage (pronounced "sah‑geh") is an imageboard command that prevents an individual reply from bumping a thread to the top of the catalog. It is entered in the e‑mail field (or "options" field, depending on the software) when posting.

Usage[edit]

  • Express disagreement or disinterest while still replying.
  • Add supplementary information without promoting the thread.
  • Participate in a thread that has reached the Bump limit.

Etymology[edit]

Derived from the Japanese word 下げる (sageru), meaning "to lower." The term was adopted from Japanese boards such as 2channel and Futaba Channel.

Variations[edit]

  • noko sage – Combines noko (return to thread after posting) with sage.
  • sage sage – Redundant usage, often humorous.
