Futallaby is a PHP Imageboard script first published in November 22, 2003. The name is a portmaneau of Futatsu (Two) and Lullaby. It is fork of 2chan's Futaba Script v031015[1] made by members of the Raspberry Heaven community. Namely: thatdog with collaboration from moot and terra.

Development History[edit]

Futallaby started development in November 10, 2003, released v031222 on December 22, 2003 and a final version v040103 on January 3, 2004. Development stopped at some point, after a falling out between moot and thatdog. Futallaby's sudden development stop saw it be supplanted by Waha's Wakaba.[2]

In 4chan's case, W.T. Snacks took over as 4chan's webdev, announcing v081404 in August 14 2004, a frontend update with several new features and UI changes.[2]

At some point between 2005 and 2010 (with a max date of 2012), 4chan's Futallaby codebase was completely phased out by what's today known as Yotsuba Script.

Features[edit]

Futallaby the same HTML UI as Futaba

Compared to Futaba v031015 and moot's early GazouBBS fork, Futallaby featured a web 2.0 libraries update, modernizing HTML and DB handling, with minimal changes to the UI.

v031222 (2003/12/22)

(Reworked from a moot 4chan newspost)

v040103 (2004/01/03) --> Final public version.
4chan's fork.
v081404 (2004/08/14)
  • imageboard.php
  • Ability to post a reply with an image.
  • After a (default) amount of 3 image replies have been made to one post, all image replies are hidden until "Reply" is clicked.
  • Amount of hidden image replies displayed.
  • Image dimensions are now displayed next to filesize.
  • Original image filename is now saved, and displayed next to image dimensions, but only on response pages.
  • Name and email, on top of the already saved password, are now saved via cookies.
  • Quoting a response number (IE: ">>16821") will make it a link to the reply. If it a response, and not a thread starter, it will highlight and scroll to it.
  • Only partly a script change, you can now donate again. Donating button is next to the rules list.
  • Not a script change at all, but Spork made the donate image!

  • Name and password are now saved in a cookie.
Unnamed 2005 version[3]
