Definition[edit]

The Original Poster (often abbreviated OP) is the user who creates a new thread on an imageboard. Subsequent replies frequently address the thread starter simply as "OP."

Usage[edit]

  • Used to request clarification: "OP, got any updates?"
  • Sometimes employed sarcastically when blaming the thread starter for low‑quality content.

Responsibilities[edit]

While not enforced by software, OPs often provide additional information, answer questions, or update the thread as events unfold.
