Running the Installer[edit]

You may be surprised to find out that getting the Windows installer to even function is a difficult exercise, due to the lack of good universal CD-ROM drivers for Windows machines. This is because Windows 9X appeared during a weird time where CD-ROMs were a new thing and everyone had floppies: now CD drives are all we have left and floppies are a thing of the past.

And most times devices were sold to users with an OEM reinstallation disk which has all the drivers built in: unfortunately, they are generally nowhere to be found.

Installation from Disc[edit]
