General Note
All recipes serve one unless otherwise indicated.
The following units are used:
- 1 teaspoon (tsp) = 5 milliliters (ml)
- 1 tablespoon (tbsp) = 3 tsp = 15 ml
- 1 fluid ounce (fl oz) = 2 tbsp = 30 ml
- 1 cup = 8 fl oz = 240 ml
- 1 ounce (oz) = 28 grams (g)
Chop Suey
- 4 oz chicken thigh
- 3 oz baby carrots
- 1 tbsp canola oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 oz sliced green onions
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup precooked rice
- In a saucepan, bring a half cup of water to a boil.
- Add rice to saucepan.
- Remove saucepan from heat and let it sit.
- Meanwhile, chop chicken thigh into pieces of approximately equal size.
- Add canola oil to pan.
- When oil is hot, add chicken thigh pieces.
- Flip pieces over after 1 minute, then flip again until both sides are white.
- Add baby carrots and green onions.
- Stir-fry until most of the onion slices are white.
- Crack an egg and add its contents.
- Stir the egg around mixing the yolk with what will become the white.
- When the egg has become a consistent light yellow, add the soy sauce and rice.
- Stir the rice together with the other ingredients in the pan until it changes color.
French Toast
- 2 slices bread
- 1 tbsp butter
- 3 eggs
- 2 sugar cubes
- 1/2 cup milk
- Crack eggs into a mixing bowl.
- Add sugar cubes and milk.
- Beat them with a whisk until the mixture bubbles and is consistently light yellow.
- Melt butter in a pan.
- When the butter is fully melted, bathe a slice of bread in the egg mixture, and drop it in the pan.
- Repeat with the other slice.
- Pour the remaining egg mixture into the pan.
- Stir-fry until no liquid leaks from the egg mixture onto the bottom of the pan when it is moved.
