The King of GETs is a legendary and long-running troll on 4chan, famous for stealing GETs, major and minor, all over the website. Since his "debut" in 2007, KoG has become the most well known GETposter in the site's history as well as greatly influencing GET culture in general. In December 13th, 2007 he created a youtube channel where he's been posting videos about his GETs as well as other things ever since. When making GET posts, KoG is most known for using images of Yugi as well as the ice fairy Cirno from Touhou. Despite Yugi being his original and most recognized avatar, in more recent years he's been using Cirno far more often. He also frequently uses images of Serena from Pokémon when scoring GETs on /vp/. His nickname is a play on the "King of Games" title awarded to winners of various Yugioh tournaments.

Origin Story

KoG's first appearance was in an /a/ thread on November 24th, 2007 in which he informed another poster that if his post number ended in 5 his sister would die, and it did end in 5, sending the thread into an uproar.

His post was accompanied by an image of Yami Yugi from Yugioh, which has since become KoG's avatar. Later in the thread other anons posted images of Yugi getting punched, but KoG once again correctly predicted his post number, saying that if his digits ended in 2 he activates his trap card and the other posters get punched. Following this, KoG would continue making posts and threads on /a/ predicting 5s, dubs, trips etc until eventually becoming a recognized poster on the board for his ability to score digits so consistently, as well as his showmanship while doing so. KoG would later expand his GET stealing efforts to virtually every board on 4chan, becoming notorious site-wide for (at the time of writing this) *14 years* of GET stealing.

4chan Posting Career

KoG's career in his earlier years consisted mainly of making countless threads and posts scoring digits, both major and minor, with one of his usual identifiers. The majority of his posts were on /a/.

In recent years, however, KoG has mostly stopped pursuing minor GETs and single digits like 5s and 9s, instead choosing to pop in and out of every board on 4chan to steal larger GETs (at least quints) before disappearing again. Occasionally when scoring a very major GET he'll upload a short video about it to his youtube channel. As a consequence of KoG's posting, the characters of Yami Yugi and Cirno have become associated with digits on 4chan, similarly to Patrick Bateman and Pepe/Kek on /pol/.

KoG has "retired" numerous times, his first being in July 16th of 2008, but as of February 2022 he has never actually left for good. The height of his career was not coincidentally during the height of Bateman/dubs posting on /a/, /b/ and /v/ in 2009-2011, during which he gained most of his infamy. This was back when /a/ had far looser moderation rather than some of the strictest on the site like it has today. He would make tons of successful GET posts and threads and consequently gained somewhat of a following on /a/. He also inspired other Cirno posters to begin claiming digits in her name for years to come. Meta threads about GETs and KoG even became a meme in and of themselves. These threads don't occur anymore, since as was mentioned earlier KoG doesn't really care about minor GETs anymore and only pops in every now and again to steal major ones.

KoG's GET pyramid documents most (all?) of his moderate/major GETs. The rarer the GET the higher up it is in the pyramid. As of February 2022, KoG's rarest GET ever is 123456789 on /tv/, which he scored on November 2nd of 2019. Previously, his rarest GET was 101010101 on /a/, acquired on January 27th, 2014.

KoG was somewhat involved in the "/a/-/sp/ wars" of 2010/2011, during which /sp/ attempted to steal various GETs on /a/, sometimes successfully and sometimes not. /sp/ stole /a/'s 39M and 49M, but KoG stole 50555555 shortly after while egging on /sp/ to go for the upcoming 55555555. On October 6th of 2011, /sp/ successfully stole /a/'s 55555555, the most important GET in KoG's career up to that point. KoG showed up in the thread, scoring three sets of trips.

The mods aren't fans of KoG's GETfaggotry. He's gotten banned many times and several of his GETs got deleted, a notable example being when he got publicly banned 9 times on /a/ after getting quints. /bant/ is an exception to this since it's considered the de facto Cirno board.

KoG claims that he only used an automatic posting script briefly and that most of his GETs are achieved by continuously refreshing sys.4chan.org until the specific post he wants is created, than when the time is right hitting the post button manually. This method is much more difficult to use for aspiring GET posters than scripts because it requires intimate knowledge of the board's activity, fluctuation in posting speed based on the time of day as well as based on how many people would be going for the GET in question based on previous GETs and captcha limitation. Some who have used this method claim that for those with the knowledge to use it, it is far more accurate for fast boards than scripts, but scripts are still the better option for slow boards. Whether you truly believe that KoG is using this method or if you think he's using a highly efficient custom automatic posting script is up to you.

Reputation

KoG and the culture he helped create is divisive on /a/, even today despite not posting nearly as much as he used to. While he's known on other boards, discussion and recognition of him is far rarer outside of /a/.

Some anons love him and his turbo-autism regarding digits, however many also grew to hate his GETfaggotry, especially on /a/ in 2007-2012. Some accuse him of "ruining" GET culture, or even saying that he is partly responsible for the proliferation dubs-posting, claiming that minor GETs are cancer the he helped spread. His reputation became a lot more positive as he stopped going for minor GETs and focused on major ones instead.

KoG vs Frogposters

KoG is partly responsible for spreading the idea of a rivalry between Cirno and frogposters. He's well known for hating Pepe the frog and frogposting in general, scoring many GETs with anti-frog posts. It's unknown why exactly he focused on frogs and not, for example, wojaks, but the most likely possibility is that it's because of Cirno's canonical hobby of freezing frogs combined with pepe becoming yet another character that's associated with digits thanks to the "cult of kek" meme that started on /pol/. This is possibly one of the reasons /a/ warmed up to him more in recent years- they also hate frogs.

Cirno's greatest victory over Pepe came during the so called "Day of The Lake" on September 9th of 2019, during which a Cirno sticky was made on /bant/ and the first frogposter in the thread was publicly banned 9 times. All subsequent frogposters received public bans as well.
